They are launching a new age-based access setting, to provide admins with more tools to tailor experiences for users based on their age. <strong>All K-12 Workspace for Education customers need to indicate which users in their institution are 18 years of age or older via the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/admin.google.com\/u\/7\/ac\/appsettings\/453172576738\/age_based_access\"><strong>age-based access setting<\/strong><\/a><strong> in the Admin Console <span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">prior to September 1, 2021 t<\/span>o prevent users, such as teachers or staff, from losing access to services.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1140\" height=\"736\" src=\"https:\/\/se-cloud-experts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/age-based-access-setting-1-1140x736.png\" alt=\"age-based access\" class=\"wp-image-4782\" srcset=\"https:\/\/secloud-old.agencerubik.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/age-based-access-setting-1-1140x736.png 1140w, https:\/\/secloud-old.agencerubik.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/age-based-access-setting-1-570x368.png 570w, https:\/\/secloud-old.agencerubik.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/age-based-access-setting-1-285x184.png 285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1140px) 100vw, 1140px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>[Action required] Set Up Your \u201cAge-based Access Setting\u201d by Sept 1<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After Sept 1, 2021, any users in your K-12 domain that have not been indicated as 18 and older will default to the under 18 account setting. <\/strong>All users under 18 will have a more restricted experience with their Workspace accounts when using <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/a\/answer\/181865?hl=en\">Additional Google services<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Teachers &amp; Staff<\/strong>: it is especially important that this setting is configured for Teachers &amp; Staff who are 18 and older to prevent these users from losing access to aspects of Additional Google services (e.g. teaching content created on YouTube) or losing access to some services entirely.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Users under 18: <\/strong>users designated as under 18 will lose access to some Additional Google Services including, but not limited to:&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Blogger<\/li><li>Google Cloud Platform<\/li><li>Location History<\/li><li>Play Books Partner Cente<strong>r<\/strong><\/li><li>Here is the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/a?p=age_based_access_settings\">full list of restrictions<\/a> &amp; services that will no longer be available for users under 18.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Google Services without an on\/off switch<\/strong>:<strong> <\/strong>Starting September 1, 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/a\/answer\/7646040\">Google services without a specific on\/off control<\/a> will be<strong> unavailable for under 18 users<\/strong>. Administrators will only be able to enable services that are identified by a specific on\/off control for users under 18.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Help your &lt;18 users download their data:<\/strong> Your administrator can turn <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/a\/answer\/6396995?hl=en\">Google Takeout on or off for users<\/a> and encourage your users to download their data using Google Takeout prior to September 1, 2021. After September 1, 2021 data that your users have lost access to may be deleted. Learn more about all the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/a?p=age_based_access_settings\">restrictions &amp; services<\/a> that will no longer be available for users under 18. Services may also contact end users directly regarding changes in their access to the service.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do I need to do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please <strong>update the age-based access settings<\/strong> in your Admin console to indicate all users above the age of 18 (i.e. teachers, staff) <strong>before September 1, 2021<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to set age-based access settings for users:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Go to the<a href=\"http:\/\/admin.google.com\/\"> Admin Console<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Under \u201cAccounts\u201d&gt; \u201cAccount Settings\u201d, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/admin.google.com\/u\/7\/ac\/appsettings\/453172576738\/age_based_access\">&#8220;Age-based access\u201d setting<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. For each organizational unit or group on the left-hand side, indicate whether the organizational unit or group contains users above the age of 18.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When setting the age-based access setting, please note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>*<strong>Do not select &#8220;All users are 18 or older<\/strong>&#8221; for organizational units that contain any users under the age of 18.
